Life, Love, Liberty quote

My life has no semblance to the dreams I had from the time I was 9 years old. I can't find one aspect of LIFE that could even pass as a small interlude in my dreams and plans. Actually, the life I now live is so far removed from the reality of the life I set out in pursuit of in 1991 that it could qualify as a dream. And so, that's what I have - a Dream Life!

The Seven Longings of the Human Heart

Do you have a strong desire to make a huge impact on the world?  Do you dream of being great and leaving a legacy?  Do you want intimacy without shame?  Do your dreams include being beautiful?  Are you often seeking the next thrill or fascination?

In the church today, these desires and dreams are often met with rebuke and doubt.  We are told we are full of pride; we are too vain; we are thrill seekers, and life can't be lived like that; some people are beautiful but most aren't.  Have you ever shared a deep desire of your heart with someone only to be met with, "You'll never be able to do that!"?

I'm a big dreamer.  Always have been, and I suspect, always will be.  I believe that God is still the same God Who saved His people through a simple young woman named Esther.  I believe that God is still the same God Who took Gideon, the least of the least, and made him a mighty man of valor and saved His people.  I believe that God is still the same God Who rescued Daniel from the lion's den and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednigo from the furnace without a scratch or a smell.  I believe that God is still the same God Who took a strong, proud but uneducated fisherman named Peter and made Him a great preacher.

I have big dreams and strong desires that have been met with doubt, criticism, and plain laughter from many believers who think it's not possible that God would use me in such "big" ways.  I needed to understand if my dreams and desires were "wrong" or "right."  Was I truly hearing from the Lord, or was I just pumping myself up too big?

So, back in November, I read a book, "The Seven Longings of the Human Heart" by Mike Bickle.  The perspective of the book was not really what I was thinking it would be, but boy, was it good.  Mike, with the help of Deborah Hiebert, helped me understand the longings and desires that I have from the Lord's perspective.  Many of my thoughts and ideas were confirmed as I read the book, and that truly blessed me.  Furthermore, Mike helped me understand my longings and desires from an eternal perspective.  This eternal perspective even shed some light on many of the circumstances I have experienced in my life.

If you need some encouragement as you pursue your dreams and desires, "The Seven Longings of the Human Heart" will do it.  Check it out!
