Life, Love, Liberty quote

My life has no semblance to the dreams I had from the time I was 9 years old. I can't find one aspect of LIFE that could even pass as a small interlude in my dreams and plans. Actually, the life I now live is so far removed from the reality of the life I set out in pursuit of in 1991 that it could qualify as a dream. And so, that's what I have - a Dream Life!

DAY 12 Encouragement

And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others].    Genesis 12:2

This is the blessing of the Lord upon Abram as the Lord instructed him to leave his relatives, his father's household, and travel to a land that He would show him.  This blessing remains true for us today, as we are Abraham's offspring and joint heirs in this blessing.  As we follow the Lord's leading into the things and the places that He has for us, then He will pour out His blessings upon us.  These blessings are to bring increase to us, but they are also to be used to bless others, to help others increase, and to bring increase to the Kingdom of God.

We are blessed to be a blessing!  You may think that you have nothing to give, but I know you do.  It matters not how little you have in finances or things, it matters the generosity of your heart.  You must start where you are.  If you only bring in $500 a month, it's still imperative that you tithe and bring other offerings as the Lord leads.  You have to give in order for increase to come.  It doesn't work the other way around - you can't wait until you have enough to give, you must give even when you don't have enough.

Give, and [gifts] will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will they pour into [the pouch formed by] the bosom [of your robe and used as a bag].  For with the measure you deal out [with the measure you use when you confer benefits on others], it will be measured back to you.    Luke 6:38

Don't get me wrong, this isn't a magic bullet, a get rich quick scheme.  This is part of the ways and means of the Lord.  There is still a time and season for everything under the sun - a time to sow and a time to reap.  God alone knows the time when the windows of heaven will open and pour out so many blessings upon you that you can't contain them.  Yet, those windows will never open if you aren't faithful in tithing and giving.

A faithful man shall abound with blessings...    Proverbs 28:20

Sowing and reaping require the same steadfastness and patience as everything else in our relationship with the Lord.  We must trust Him to be faithful to His Word when it comes to blessings of every kind, including financial.  Sure, we are not all called to live at the same level of financial increase, but we are all called to be blessed!  We need the blessings to accomplish God's plans and purposes for our lives.

Now, can you believe God for financial increase as you walk in obedience to His Word?  Remember, you are not blessed just for your increase.  You are blessed to be a blessing!
