Life, Love, Liberty quote

My life has no semblance to the dreams I had from the time I was 9 years old. I can't find one aspect of LIFE that could even pass as a small interlude in my dreams and plans. Actually, the life I now live is so far removed from the reality of the life I set out in pursuit of in 1991 that it could qualify as a dream. And so, that's what I have - a Dream Life!

DAY 51 Encouragement

A man's mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure.
Proverbs 16:9

Do you have plans?  Plans for your life, your house, your children?  Plans for tomorrow, next week, or next year?  We all have plans.  Some of us plan more than others because it's our nature.  Some "fly by the seat of their pants," but still, we all make some plans.  I'm kind of of the philosophy, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail."  So, I tend to make lots of plans.  It does help me to keep organized, efficient, and peaceful.

My plans, however, cannot be the deciding factor of what actually gets done.  I have learned over the years, that my planning is great, but I must be willing to change my plans as the Lord directs my steps.  Do you know what I mean?  I can't let the strict following of my plans be the reason for missing the Lord, being robbed of a blessing, making a bad decision, or taking the wrong path.  I must be willing to let the Lord be Lord of my life, and direct my steps.  Then and only then can my steps and paths be made sure, steady, prosperous, and right!

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6

Take a look at this comparison: "A man's mind plans his way," and "In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him."  We can plan our way, but even when we plan it, we must make way for Him in our way.  We must always, always, always, acknowledge Him, recognize Him, and know what He wants for us in all situations and circumstances.  We may not have all of the details, but as long as we acknowledge Him, He will direct our paths.  When we don't know what we should do or are not sure what decision to make, acknowledge Him, make way for Him.  We can be certain He will direct our paths.

A major key, however, comes with this comparison: "A man's mind plans his way," and "lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind."  We have been given the mind of Christ, and we must use it.  I have found that the longer I have been acquainted with the Spirit and the Spirit's ways, the more I "think" like Him.  We can't, however, think with our "natural" minds.  We learn to think with our spirits, where our spiritual side becomes more dominant than our natural side.  When we set our hearts and minds on doing what pleases Him, we become better acquainted with Him, His thoughts, and His ways.

Obviously, I'm not saying that all my plans go exactly as planned.  Haha!  I'm usually not spot on with the Spirit, but I sure come a lot closer now.  I don't always have the minute details correct, but my general plans are more in line with His than they once were.  It's a process.  We are in a living, thriving, thumping relationship with the most Awesome, One and Only God!  I'm telling you, for sure, the more you seek Him, the more you find Him, His ways, His thoughts, and His desires!

I so want Him to direct my steps and make them sure, steady, and right!  I know that I know that I know that I can "be confident in the Lord" to have my best in mind and to do what's right by me.  Don't you trust Him?  Many times, I sure act like I don't.  I know I can, but I don't always.  I'm working on letting go and letting God!  I know that then my paths and steps will be straighter and plainer, easier to walk and easier to recognize.
