Fight the good fight of the faith; lay hold of the eternal life to which you were summoned and for which you confessed the good confession of faith before many witnesses.
1 Timothy 6:12
How many of you know and understand that our salvation isn't a one time experience but an every day walking out? We are told that we must "work out" our salvation. It doesn't say we work for our salvation, but we work it out, we put our salvation into action, allowing the Spirit to work in us the likeness of Christ and through us the works of the Lord. We must carry out our salvation until it's fully complete, until we die and go to Him or He returns for us, which ever comes first. He who endures to the end shall be saved.
So, we put up a fight! We take the Kingdom of God by force. We always have our armor on, pray continually, and walk and live in the Spirit. We wage war on sin because Jesus Christ set us free from sin. We wage war on the darkness because the light always overtakes the dark, and things that are hidden will be revealed.
Many years ago I remember having a conversation about the armor of God with a wonderful friend who is now in the presence of the Lord. She was a very wise woman, and she always gave me something about which to think. I was telling her about how I daily put on the armor of God in prayer. She said to me, "Why do you put it on daily? Why do you even take it off?" Ah, ha! It was one of those light bulb moments. Exactly, why did I take it off?
The armor of God is a way of life. I live in the belt of truth and stand in the breastplate of righteousness. I pursue peace daily and walk in faith. My mind is always surrounded with the awesome wonder of salvation, and I am always ready with my sword. I don't ever step out of my armor, and if I do, I immediately fit it back on tightly once I realize it. Believe me, it doesn't take long to realize it either. When you're fighting the fight of faith, you know when your armor isn't in the right place. Haha!
I'm a fighter at heart. Don't you dare tell me I can't do anything or something is never going to happen. I'm gonna dig my heals in even if it's just to show you... Truly, though, the kingdom of God is worth fighting for in my life and for the lives of others. I want to see the people of God strong and mighty in battle because they have the greatest Warrior as their leader.
Let's fight the good fight of faith! If you don't think you can do it, give me a call. I'll fight it with you! We will see the VICTORY!
